The search for missing ex-WWE superstar Shad Gaspard has come to an end.
The body of a former WWE wrestler who went missing while swimming with his son has been found on Venice Beach on Sunday after he was caught in a rip tide.
According to TMZ, The body was first seen on the beach by a citizen who called cops around 1:30 AM Wednesday … according to our law enforcement sources. We’re told officers responded and recovered the body right near Venice Pier.
Aryeh, Gaspard’s 10-year-old son, was rescued and several other swimmers made it out of the water safely after they were caught in the strong currents.
Los Angeles firefighters said police called them to a beach in Venice early on Wednesday after a dead body was found.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) later tweeted that it was saddened to learn that its former “superstar has passed away at the age of 39”.
Shad heroically told lifeguards to focus on getting his 10-year-old son to shore safely, but when they returned he’d gone under.
Police said Gaspard was about 150ft (46m) from the shore when he was last seen.
