One of R. Kelly’s upcoming concerts has been shut down by Illinois officials in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against him.
The 52-year-old musician was set to perform at Spring Break Jam this April in Springfield, Ill.
A spokeswoman from the Illinois Department of Agriculture told the Chicago Tribune that the application for Spring Break Jam was denied on Thursday (January 10) due to security concerns.
The concerns stem from protests outside R. Kelly’s Chicago studio following the release of Surviving R. Kelly, the Lifetime docu-series which addresses sexual abuse allegations against the singer.
The spokeswoman added that the event could be reconsidered and approved in the future, but not with R. Kelly on the lineup.
