Earlier this year, Cosby was convicted of drugging and raping former Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his Pennsylvania home in 2004.
His sentencing is scheduled for September 24, and the comedian could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
According to the Los Angeles Times, LAPD officials found “Serial Rapist” written in black marker on Cosby’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame star at about 5:30 AM Tuesday morning.
The plaque was immediately cleaned, although authorities do not know how long the message was left on display.
Cosby was awarded the Walk of Fame star in November 1977. Rewarded is actually the wrong word, celebrities must pay a fee for the star, which sits at about $30,000 currently. This is the fourth time that “Rapist” has been written on Cosby’s star.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has stated that they will not remove controversial stars. “Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” former Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Leron Gubler stated in 2015.
“Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.”
