Soon Dogs In LA Will Go Vegan

Soon shelter dogs in LA may have to worry about more than finding a happy home: a restrictive vegan diet.

Chowing down on meaty bits, as dogs are wont to do, may be outlawed if the Los Angeles City Board of Animal Services Commissioners decides to move forward with a plan to make shelter food plant-based, according to the Washington Post.

The plan would require the city’s six animal shelters to trade its traditional meat-based dog food with vegan dog food, introducing 33,000 dogs to a diet their wolven ancestors would surely scoff at. The plan would make Los Angeles the first city in the nation to feed its shelter dogs vegan food.
